Our History

Avicenna Community Health Center was founded in 2009 by a group of university students and faculty, a local physician, and an MBA graduate. The organization was initially launched at the Central Illinois Mosque.

Since then, Avicenna has grown into an interfaith community clinic that serves all individuals in and around Champaign County.

For several years, Avicenna operated at the Frances Nelson Clinic (now Promise Health) on Sunday afternoons. In 2021, Avicenna moved to its current location at the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District.
