On April 22nd, volunteers from the Avicenna Community Health Center  - Student Initiative held our first ever 5K run and walk on campus. The event was a success! Thank you to all the runners that came out and all the sponsors who supported the event. If you weren't able to come out, remember that regular exercise is key to overall health. See you at next year's 5K!

The Mayor of Champaign Don Gerard, and Laura Huth visited Avicenna Community Health Center (ACHC) on Sunday, January 29th.  They were given a tour of the clinic by Irfan Ahmad, lead-founder and president of Avicenna, accompanied by other board members and the executive committee. ACHC was launched community-wide in January 2009 as a social entrepreneurial endeavor, after several years of planning and research by Irfan Ahmad, and colleagues and students from the University of Illinois and the community.  Ahmad is an executive director at the University of Illinois Center of Nanoscale Science and Technology, a research faculty member at the Department of Agricultural, and Biological Engineering, and assistant dean for research at the College of Engineering.   Avicenna board member attorney Faruq Nelson facilitated the mayor’s visit.
